Narrative Progress Report

This is the most important part of your final report. This does not need to be more than five paragraphs with the following headings; however, it needs to be written so that it is easily understood. Use the following outline to develop the lay summary as an uploaded file:

  1. Accomplishments: Describe the major goals and objectives of the project and a description of the target audience. What was accomplished under these goals? This accomplishment section should describe the results, outcomes, and impact of your work that will provide benefits to broad audiences. It is important that this portion of your report be written in plain, non-technical language.
  2. Dissemination: Describe how the results have been disseminated to communities of interest. Include any outreach activities that have been undertaken to reach members of communities who are not usually aware of these research activities for the purpose of enhancing public understanding and increasing interest in learning and careers in science, technology, and the humanities.
  3. Opportunities: Describe opportunities for training and professional development provided to anyone who worked on the project or anyone who was involved in the activities supported by the project.
  4. Products: Identify the standard products/outputs that have been achieved. This may include publications, patents, technologies, inventions, licenses, conference papers and/or presentations, website(s) or other Internet site(s), databases, physical collections, audio or video products, software, models, educational aids or curricula, instruments or equipment, research material, interventions (e.g., clinical or educational), or new business creation. Please note that additional quantitative data will be collected in the report, so this section is meant to be a summary.
  5. Changes/Problems: Please describe any significant changes/delays and the actions or plans to resolve them.  This can also include any significant impact on expenditures, personnel, etc.
