The Microscopy Core provides cutting-edge imaging capabilities for biological research at the subcellular and ultrastructural levels. Our instrumentation includes:
- Leica TCS SP6 Confocal Microscope
- Hitachi SU5000 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
- Hitachi H-7500 Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
We offer a range of sample preparation techniques and collaborate with investigators to refine experimental procedures. Our experienced personnel provide hands-on training and technical assistance to ensure optimal use of our imaging resources.

Vismaya Dhanashree, Ph.D.
Microscopy Researcher
Dhanashree is the microscopist at the MCIC facility on the CFAES Wooster Campus. She works closely with researchers to prepare samples, capture high-quality images, and explore the fine details of biological structures through advanced microscopy. Dhanashree holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences, with a strong focus on molecular biology, microbiology, protein chemistry, and imaging. She also has over 13 years of research experience, including work in veterinary medicine. She is passionate about making complex science visual and accessible and enjoys supporting projects that bring the hidden, microscopic world to life.
